  1. Digitalk will make available patches to its products which
  2. are fixes to those products in the interim between new
  3. releases.  These patches contain fixes to software and
  4. documentation. 
  5.  
  6. The files comprising a patch are compressed into a .zip
  7. (or for Mac a .sit) file.  The file will be named according
  8. to the following format: nnvvpp.zip, where nn is a two
  9. letter mnemonic for  the product (vd = V DOS, v2 = V 286,
  10. vm = V Mac, vp = V PM, vw = V Windows), vv is the version 
  11. of the product for which the patch applies (10 = 1.0,
  12. 11 = 1.1, 12 = 1.2, etc.). and pp is the number of 
  13. the patch itself.  VW1002.ZIP indicates the patch applies
  14. to Smalltalk/V Win 1.0, and it is the second  patch that
  15. applies to this version of the this product.  The latest
  16. patch  for a given product/version shall either incorporate
  17. or supercede all previous patches for that product/version,
  18. you need only be concerned about obtaining/installing a single
  19. patch to bring your system up to date.
